Berries
Blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and strawberries are some of the best source of insoluble fiber which has been shown to help lower high blood pressure. If you are watching your weight, these berries are an ideal low calorie sweet to add to your diet which supply fiber that apparently help absorb fewer of the calories you do eat. It has been well researched that too much sodium added to your diet may be one of the main culprits in the development of high blood pressure. What is less understood is the relationship between sodium and potassium...Dr Langford of the University of Mississippi, has done research suggesting that our high blood pressure may not only be due to too much sodium, but also to a dietary pattern of too little potassium. Because berries provide a healthy amount of potassium in our diet, they can help restore the balance and help lower high blood pressure.
Broccoli
Broccoli is all heart...with almost no fat and good source of soluble food fiber, it couldn't be kinder to your blood cholesterol levels. Your blood pressurewill enjoy the benefits of the potassium that broccoli gives you without the detrimental sodium added to the diet, that cause high blood pressure.
Broccoli is also an excellent source of calcium without the high levels of protein that are suspected of robbing calcium from the body.
Chicken
Chicken breast, with skin removed, is the lowest in fat and calories of any part of the chicken. Nutritionally chicken is high in protein, iron, niacin, and zinc. Chicken has a fat and sodium profile that is beneficial to maintaining lower cholesterol and blood pressure.
Fish
add fish to your diet for better and lower high blood pressure...with generous amounts of potassium and only modest amounts of sodium, fresh fish rates very high for a food that lowers high blood pressure.
Add fish to the diet for better cholesterol levels...Levels of good cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, were found to be lowered by as much as 20 per cent by following a diet rich in salmon oil.
Grapefruit
Grapefruit is a perfect heart healthy food that has also been found to lower high blood pressuree when added to the diet. Its fat and sodium content is extremely low, while providing a good source of potassium, which has been linked to lower blood pressure.
Kiwifruit
Kiwifruit is of course an excellent source of vitamin c but also rich in potassium yet virtually free of sodium and fat. Another great food that may help lower blood pressure.
Rabbit Meat
If you are concerned with lowering your blood pressure you may want to consider this protein food source with more potassium and lower sodium than more common meats. Rabbit is rich in niacin, a B vitamin, a 4 ounce serving provides more than half the day's recommended allowance. When preparing Rabbit meat be sure to trim and cut away any visible fat that you can.
Brown Rice
It was William Kempner, M.D. that gave rice proved rice’s reputation for helping lower blood pressure. He put patient suffering from high blood pressure on a strict diet of rice and fruit. Dr Kempner found that the lower sodium content diet was responsible for lowering blood pressure consistently with his patients.
Soybeans - Organically Grown
Soybeans have been found to have many health benefits among them it has been found to help lower blood pressure.
Soybeans are a great source of proteins as well as containing key minerals such as calcium, potassium, and iron. Soybeans are also low in fat but also contain unsaturated fats which make them great for cholesterol as well. Be sure to look for fermented soy foods such as miso and tempeh which contain vitamin B12. Avoid GMO or genetically modified soy products...look for the NON GMO label.
Not going #2 enough? New health guidelines suggest we should drink about eight glasses of water a day, about 64 ounces, and get 25 grams of natural food fiber to stay regular and healthy. World-renowned heart surgeon Dr. Mehmet Oz says that if we can work on our fiber and water intake, our digestive systems could dramatically improve.
"High fiber comes in vegetable form: Artichoke, lima beans, soybeans," he says. "You can get fruits that have lots of fiber like grapefruit, blackberries and raspberries."
Another fantastic source of natural food fiber is whole grains. Dr. Oz says that eating whole grains isn't just the latest craze—they offer multiple benefits to your health. You may have already heard about the health benefits of whole wheat bread and oatmeal, but now doctors say other whole grains like spelt, bulgar and quinoa can reduce cholesterol and high blood pressure and even help prevent heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. They say that whole grains help flush fat and cholesterol out of your system and provide powerful antioxidants that help you stay healthier, look younger and live longer. The USDA just recently recommended eating at least three servings a day.
